Thirty years in Malta taught me that the biggest joy is in building connections that last.
When I first arrived in Malta, more than thirty years ago, I was one of the first Chinese women to make this island my home.
I could not have known then how deeply this place would shape my life. From the beginning, I welcomed Malta with an open heart. I dedicated myself to my restaurant in St. Julians, which I ran for more than twenty years. For me, it was never just about business. That space became a meeting point — where food, culture, and connection came alive every single day.
My life has always been full. I believe in celebrating what each day brings. Over the years, I became very active in the community, joining many projects and events. Giving my time and energy to others has always brought me joy.
One experience I will never forget is the Queen Of The Planet pageant in 2012, organised by the Women’s Planet Foundation.
Standing there, shining with women from so many countries, I felt a beautiful spark inside. I was honoured to place 2nd Runner Up — an experience that continues to inspire me to this day. Now, as I enjoy my respectful age, I continue to keep busy with new projects. I believe that staying active is what keeps you young. I often say, “Doing nothing ages you. Staying curious, staying involved — that keeps you alive.” This has always been my way of living.
