From an Operating Room Nurse to “Mrs. Russia”: Sabina’s Story
My name is Sabina, and I’d like to share my story—full of unexpected turns, inner strength, and a genuine love for life.
I was born in Latvia, and when I was five, my family moved to Russia. My heart has always belonged to the Pskov region. Pskov became my home: the place where I grew up, found love, built a family, and became a mother to three wonderful children.
My path began at Pskov Medical College, where I studied with discipline and focus. I was especially drawn to surgery, obstetrics, and pediatrics. At the same time, sport was always a big part of my life. I competed in running events and played on the college team with real drive.
After graduation, I began working as a nurse in a military unit, and later signed a contract with the Airborne Forces. Today I serve in the 104th Air Assault Regiment as an operating room nurse. My daily routine has been intense, structured, and demanding—and it taught me stamina, precision, and calm under pressure.
From 2015 to 2018, I became the absolute champion of the Airborne Forces and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in military-applied sports. In 2018, I earned gold and bronze at international level and set a world record in a medical-response and evacuation discipline. I was also awarded the medal “For Military Valor.”
And then one day, I decided to swap heavy boots for elegant heels, and a strict uniform for an evening gown. I set my sights on “Mrs. Pskov 2024,” where I became First Vice Mrs. That achievement opened the next door: “Mrs. Russia.” Today I can say with pride that I’m the only contestant to take two crowns and sashes—First Vice Mrs. Russia and Mrs. Defender. The second title is unique in the history of the competition, and it reflects my character.
My story is proof that it’s never too late to begin a new chapter, discover sides of yourself you didn’t expect, and achieve something bold—even when it seems like your path has already been defined.
For me, this competition became far more than a stage event. It was a transformation: a new period that brought new connections, strong friendships, and the chance to see myself in a different light. I truly fell in love with the stage and with the opportunity to share my thoughts and emotions openly.
I’m deeply grateful to my family—my main support. My mother stayed close, encouraged me, and carried me from Pskov all the way through the biggest moments. I still remember the “Mrs. Pskov” final, right before Mother’s Day, when I congratulated her from the stage in my uniform. It was sincere and unexpected—we barely managed to hide the bouquet in time. The entire hall felt it.
My husband has always stood by me. His words, “You are the main and the best queen in my life,” gave me confidence and strength. My son stepped up with real maturity, taking responsibility for his younger sisters. My children remain my strongest motivation.
I also want to express my gratitude to Alla Yuryevna. From the very first day we met, I felt support and warmth that became a real doorway into a new life. And of course, thank you to our organizers, Nikolai Korolev and Svetlana Shumeyko. They guided me, stayed close, and were always in touch—helping me move forward step by step.
To every woman who is hesitating or doubting herself: I truly recommend experiencing something like this. It’s serious work on yourself, and a chance to strengthen what you already have while discovering talents you never knew were there.
